I’ve had an ultra sound before for a benign lump in the breast. I recall hearing some beeping noises too, but they didn’t find anything cancerous. I think it may just be the machine beeping to log out what it may or may not have found. But I wouldn’t rely on a beeping machine. Best to wait for resuls from a doctor or get a biopsy to check if the cells are cancerous. =)

Was there really the need for name-calling Jessie? Good lord!!
No Chancer … the beeps are when the technologist is measuring the dimensions of the tumor. In order to accurately diagnose a tumor, as being cancerous, one has to either do a needle aspiration or a biopsy.
They usually do an ultrasound, to see if the nodule is a tumor or a cyst … they can tell this by whether or not the nodule is solid or fluid filled … cysts are fluid filled.

Ok, none of them are correct!!! The beep is usually a result of the ultrasound tech freezing an image, and then saving it to the hard drive. The beep just confirms that that image was saved. Ultrasound is showing a live “video” if you will of the inside, and the doctors don’t want a video, they want a picture. So the beep, is them taking a picture.
And an ultrasound can NOT detect cancer. The only way cancer can be confirmed is by having a biopsy. Which is where they insert a needle into the area in question and remove a tiny sample of it. Yes, ultrasound can determine if it is a cyst or solid, however it does not say cancer or not cancer. Typically cysts are benign (non-cancerous), however you can’t tell until whatever it is, is sent to the lab! Hope this helps you out-
