I have gone the opposite direction, Im doing homeopathic therapy.
It was a personal choice because in my honest opinion, Chemo kills more people than it helps.
If you’re scared about going for radiation, find out more about alternative healing like Homeopathic therapy etc… It might just give you some insight into what else is available.

    Good Luck :)

Please, please…. talk with your doctor / oncologist about all of your questions.

This is not the place to ask for opinions on such serious. life affecting topics. We cannot know you, your case, the particulars of your diagnosis and treatment. Having questions about the treatment options and outcomes is completely normal. The doctor should not hesitate to discuss these with you.

Stories that you get here fall into the category of anecdotal evidence – and cannot ever be substituted for the results of medical research studies.

Certain doctors will have a bias towards particular kinds of treatment – because they are familiar with it, have had good results with it and so on, but they should be willing to discuss all of the available treatments.

It’s a localised way to destroy cancer cells in the breast that may still be around after surgery. It’s belt and braces really; they can’t be sure they got all the cancer cells, and this is a way of targetting any that remain.

You have the option to refuse any treatment you don’t want. I will tell you one thing though – . I had radiotherapy for breast cancer too; and while it’s tedious having to go to the hospital every day, it’s a walk in the park compared to chemo, which I gather you’ve already had.

EDIT. Meant to add – there are no alternative therapies proven to be effective against any cancer. ‘Alternative’ in this context is another way of saying ‘unproven’.

Before you even consider radiation, check out alternatives. Yahoo has a chatboard about the Budwig Protocol–a combination of diet, stress reduction, etc. which has been used by many people (including myself) as a cure for various types of cancer. I had radiation therapy and I, as well as many others, have horror stories that could be told about the resultant longterm damage–these are not “antecdotes” but factual accounts, and things that doctors will not warn you about. Please, please, do yourself a huge favor and investigate the Budwig Protocol. The Yahoo chatboard is: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/FlaxSeedOil2 but you can also find lots of info about it elsewhere by doing an Internet search.
